Rice Boat Plies Keralan Backwaters

 

 

A traditional boat makes its way along one of the many palm-fringed waterways linking Alappuzha and Kollam in the state of Kerala. Located on the southwestern coast of India, Kerala is a lush land of coconuts, coir and cashews, oriented toward maritime commerce for almost 2,000 years and boasting the highest literacy rate in India.
